But I believe the best answer to the posed question would be that Nazi propaganda's main purposed was to intimidate, threaten and empower themselves. I believe that this age was a huge problem due to the intimidation that Nazi Germany posed to other countries.

Depends some don't want to let go of the past, others it could be they are scared of being judged for what their ancestors did. They also might have PTSD  this might give them flashbacks and scary dreams about things they might have seen.
