It was a water supply for the civilizations within the two rivers. The land was also very fertile and it made it easy to grow food. Lots of vegetation grew there.

The Tigris and Euphrates rivers were very important in the development of Mesopotamia since it is a region characterized by having large sand deserts. Without the water flow of these rivers it would be uninhabitable. These rivers  carried sediments that fertilized the land and water. The water made agriculture possible. It is important to note that the creation of irrigation systems to grow crops allowed the entire population to supply food.

• On 4 July 1776, Congress passed the Declaration of Independence, which for the first time confirmed the colony's intention to be fully independent of the mother country.

• Congress built itself as the authority of the central government under the Articles of Confederation, which continued in effect until 1788.
