Slope of a Line Passing through two points (x₁ , y₁) and (x₂ , y₂) is given by :

\spadesuit\; Slope(m) = \frac{y_1 - y_2}{x_1 - x_2}

Given Points are (-2 , -3) and (-4 , -9)

here x₁ = -2 and x₂ = -4 and y₁ = -3 and y₂ = -9

\spadesuit\;Slope(m) = \frac{-3 + 9}{-2 + 4} = \frac{6}{3} = 3

mestny [16]

(3, - 2)

given y = - 2, then

- 2x + 4 = - 2 ( solve for x )

subtract 4 from both sides

- 2x = - 6 ( divide both sides by - 2 )

x = \frac{-6}{-2} = 3
