Colonialism involves policy of a nation aiming to extend or retain its authority over other territories with an objective of exploiting them to the benefit of the colonizing country and helping helping the colonies modernize in terms of economics and religions among others. British and French were major colonizers during the 19th century and differed in many ways. These includes; British used indirect rule while French adopted the policy assimilation and association, British allowed traditional rulers to wield much powers while French reduced by undermining African Chieftaincy, British colonies were administered separately by a governor answerable to Britain while French colonies were regarded as oversea provinces of France. British employed a mixture of professionals and amateurs governors while most French administrators were military officers who lacked education and experience. Laws applied in the French colonies were made in France while in British colonies the laws were made in the Legco, among many other differences.

When it came to fining sources to populate their colonies, the British colonists were recruited from the middle class, generally farmers, tradesmen, indentured servants, some even criminals or immigrants from other countries. The French selected traders, missionaries and merchants. They sent well over 1000 soldiers over and gave them land. They did not allow Protestants or peasant farmers to emigrate.

When it came to settlements, the french had some colonies that roughly totaled about 3000 people by 1660. They were able to claim a good stretch of land but were never that populated. The British colonized in a plantation modle and operated family famrs. By 1700 they had 100,000 colonists.

They each had to be governed, the French were fully subject to France and the French King, they had no political rights and no representation in the government, they didn't even have the right to have public meetings without permission. The British allowedd their colonists to set up local governments and hold assemblies, they taxed themselves and were left to run themselves provided they didn't take up arms against the crown.

While both experience growth in their population, the British did so at a very rapid pace. The French were far slower. Both groups experienced help from the Native Americans when they first began settling, the French were very good to the Native Americans after they became settled while the British were not good to the Native Americans at all.

How were the goals of Marcus Garvey and stokely Carmichael different
Alex777 [14]

Answer:

Stokely Carmichael's goal:

Black power also represented Carmichael's break with King's doctrine of nonviolence and its end goal of racial integration. Instead, he associated the term with the doctrine of black separatism, articulated most prominently by Malcolm X.

Marcus Garvey's goal:

Garvey's original goal was racial uplift and establishment of education and industrial opportunities for black people. Another goal of Garvey's was to unify all of the Negro people of the world into one great body and establish a country and government of their own.

The DIFFERENCE* is that Stokely was to seperate blacks and whites, while Marcus was to help create jobs for black people, and to help brind them together, a similarity is they we're both about black and white being seperate.
