This problem can be solved by using the Archimedes Principle. The principle basically lets us derive a force balance between the weight of the log and the buoyant force exerted by the water, that is

weight of log = buoyant force exerted by water

simplification of the derviation would yield,

Dl/Dw = fraction of the of the log submerged in water = (1-0.25) = 0.75

where Dl = density of the log
Dw = density of the water (1000 kg/m3)

therefore Dl = 750 kg/m^3

Hope this helps

The simplest form of a traveling electromagnetic wave is a plane wave. For a wave traveling in the x direction whose electric fi
e-lub [12.9K]

Answer:

please the answer below

Explanation:

A general electromagnetic plane wave, traveling in the x direction, can be expressed in the form:

\vec{E}=E_0e^{-i(k\cdot x-\omega t)}\hat{j}\\\\\vec{B}=B_0e^{-i(k\cdot x-\omega t)}\hat{k}\\\\    (1)

1.

a. amplitudes

from (1) we can observe that E_0 and B_0 are the amplitudes.

2. frequency

3.

By replacing  (1) we obtain:

\vec{E}=E_0e^{-i(k(0)-\omega t)}\hat{j}=E_0[cos\omega t+sin\omega t]\hat{j}

4.

the wave respond to the followinf physical variables: amplitude, frequency, time and position, as we can see in (1).

hope this helps!!

A device called an insolation meter is used to measure the intensity of sunlight. It has an area of 100 cm2 and registers 6.50 W
labwork [276]

Answer:

<h2>650W/m²</h2>

Explanation:

Intensity of the sunlight is expressed as I  = Power/cross sectional area. It is measured in W/m²

Given parameters

Power rating = 6.50Watts

Cross sectional area = 100cm²

Before we calculate the intensity, we need to convert the area to m² first.

100cm² = 10cm * 10cm

SInce 100cm = 1m

10cm = (10/100)m

10cm = 0.1m

100cm² = 0.1m * 0.1m = 0.01m²

Area (in m²) = 0.01m²

Required

Intensity of the sunlight I

I = P/A

I = 6.5/0.01

I = 650W/m²

Hence, the intensity of the sunlight in W/m² is 650W/m²
