At the beginning of the story, Beowulf<span> sails from Geatland to Denmark to </span>see Hrothgar<span>. </span>Beowulf<span> had heard that </span>Hrothgar<span> and his people were being terrorized by a monster. So, </span>Beowulf<span> takes his warriors and sails to Denmark to defeat </span>Hrothgar's<span> monster, Grendel.</span>
