If you wrote this in point-slope form, it’ll be y+8=-6(x-2).
This equation written in slope intercept form would be y = -6x+4.
He messed up because he was supposed to change the double negative into a positive then solve. He was not supposed to add 8 on both sides.
So, the answer is y = -6x+4.
