The French and Indian War began in 1754 and ended with the treaty of Paris in 1763. The war provided great Britain enormous territorial gains in North America, but disputes over subsequent frontier policy and paying the war's expenses led to colonial discontent, and ultimately to the American Revolution.

Answer:

The French and Indian War was, indirectly, one of the factors that influenced the subsequent start of the United States War of Independence 12 years later.

This war was triggered by a series of territorial disputes between Britain and France in its North American colonies, lasted 9 years and culminated in a British victory and the expulsion of the French from their colonies on the continent, which passed into British hands .

The British forces were mostly made up of settlers from the Thirteen Colonies, who saw the French as a threat and, until then, were at ease with their membership in the British Empire.

Once the war was over, with the removal of the French colonies, Britain had to face the costs of the conflict. The metropolis had no better idea than deciding that it was the settlers who had to face the costs of a war that they had not initiated, which unleashed great discontent among the population of the colonies. This, together with the fact that the only threat for which they might need help from Britain had been defeated, and that they had proven themselves to have great military capacity, led to a feeling of independence beginning to emerge among the settlers.

This discontent and this feeling of self-reliance began to manifest itself through protests and boycotts against British tax pressure, generating a wave of minor conflicts that escalated until the definitive start of the War of Independence in 1775.

What were some of the effects of the western powers' fears of communist expansion?
BlackZzzverrR [31]
The Western Powers' fear of communist expansion resulted in several different effects including:

1) Marshall Plan- This US law implemented right after World War II, gave $13 billion worth of aid to countries that suffered financially after this war. The US feared that failing to help these countries (like Great Britain, Turkey, France, etc.) would result in these nations falling under the control of the Soviet Union and the communist system.

2) North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)- This military and political alliance was created so that nations had numerous allies in case of another war starting. This ensured that Western nations would help protect each other in the instance of an attempted communist takeover. Countries that were part of NATO include the United States, Great Britain, France, and Denmark.

The poster below was created during World War II:
pantera1 [17]

Answer: "to encourage Americans to conserve limited resources"

Background on WWII in American Culture (As related to the poster):

During this time period, food rationing was a solution issue by the United States government in order maximize war effort and bring about more food supplies for the front line. In order to ease the pressure on public food supply due to the rationing, the government printed posters and encourage citizens to contribute to the war effort through Victory Gardens, basically with the purpose to bring about more food in circulation during a time of strict controlled food supplies.

Read these sentences, and then answer the question that follows.
Alinara [238K]

The correct answer is answer C ("The article will be biased because the historian is using only one source about the ruler").

If a historian only took this one scroll to write a biography on its subject (the ruler), it would most likely be extremely misleading and inaccurate. There's no way of getting closer to the truth of any subject without contrasting a variety of opinions from different sources. What if people working for this ruler wrote it in a way that made him look good? What if it was written under pressure? What if it was a complete lie? These and many other questions should come to mind as possible ways in which relying on one source might compromise historical facts.

Hope this helps!

1. The colony was founded mainly by planters from the overpopulated English sugar island of Barbados, who brought relatively large numbers of African slaves from that island to establish new plantations. To meet agricultural labor needs, colonists also practiced Indian slavery for some time.

2. Slaves included captives from wars and slave raids; captives bartered from other tribes, sometimes at great distances; children sold by their parents during famines; and men and women who staked themselves in gambling when they had nothing else, which put them into servitude in some cases for life.

3. In New England, it was common for enslaved people to learn specialized skills and crafts due to the area's more varied economy. Ministers, doctors, and merchants also used slave labor to work alongside them and run their households. As in the South, enslaved men were frequently forced into heavy or farm labor.

4. The jobs in each region were different because they all harvest and require different needs.

5. England's southern colonies in North America developed a farm economy that could not survive without slave labor. Many slaves lived on large farms called plantations. These plantations produced important crops traded by the colony, crops such as cotton and tobacco.

6. While working on plantations in the Southern United States, many slaves faced serious health problems. Improper nutrition, unsanitary living conditions, and excessive labor made them more susceptible to diseases than their owners; the death rates among the slaves were significantly higher due to diseases.

7. The colonists could of used animals or done it themselves.
