Truman said,  "It must be the policy of the United States to support free people who are resisting attempted subjugation by armed minorities or by outside pressures."  Essentially, the Truman Doctrine pledged American effort elsewhere in the world to check the spread of communist and Soviet influence.  The policy was first put into action in 1948 by providing economic support to Greece and Turkey to stave off communist movement in those countries.

19. England experienced all of the following hardships in the late 1500's prompting
anastassius [24]

In the 1500s, England had not yet began e. the widespread importation of African slaves into the British Isle.

The late 16th century and 17th centuries saw much change in England as a result of many factors including:

  • The Protestant Reformation which saw religious groups such as Catholics and Protestants come into conflict with each other
  • An increase in population that reduced public welfare
  • The introduction of enclosures which limited the movements of farmers and created the need for more land and,
  • International rivalry with Spain for the control of the seas.

At that point however, England had not yet become very active in the slave trade and so did not see a lot of enslaved Africans in the British Isles.

We can conclusively state that the British did not see many Africans who were enslaved coming into Britain in the late 1500s.
