A four-wheeled public coach which was used for carrying passengers and packages on journeys were known as stagecoaches, they were drawn by four horses. They were mostly used before the steam-powered rails became common, the stagecoaches used to make trips from posts where they used to replace horses. The business of stage coaching was called Staging. Lighter and simplified versions of stagecoaches were also used they were called stage wagon. During colonial times stagecoaches were major source of travel.
