Need help ASAP Which answer choice describes a moment of situational irony in Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass?
vazorg [7]

Answer:

Douglass describes how granting enslaved people time off at the holidays allows masters to maintain control over them the rest of the year.

Explanation:

Situational irony is the term that refers to a situation where something is expected to happen, but what happens is exactly the opposite. An example of this can be seen when Douglass shows that when slaves were given a day off, on holidays, they thought it meant a little freedom and less work, but it meant an increase in the power of white people over black people, already that this break gave you the freedom to keep control over them for the rest of the year.

is a stereotypical joke, such as "all Asians are smart", an example of humor? if so what kind of humor would it classify as?
GrogVix [38]
Humor is subjective, so for some people a statement like that could be considered as such. Going by that, if we are looking at this statement as a joke then it would be classified as humor with some racist undertones, but it really depends on the context. That aside, I would say it’s racist because it can be used to generalize Asians in a hurtful way.
