\frac{3x}{4} +4= \frac{5}{8}
Multiply both sides by 8.
2(3x) + 8(4)= 5
6x+32=5
Subtract 32 from both sides
6x=-27
Divide both sides by 6.
x=-27/6
Simplify
x=-9/2

Answer: x=-9/2

Lets get started :)
\frac{3}{4}x + 4 = \frac{5}{8}
We subtract 4 on each side

\frac{3}{4}x + 4 ( - 4 ) = \frac{5}{8} (- 4 )
+ 4 and - 4 cancels out

\frac{3}{4} x = \frac{5}{8} - 4
Here, we face a little problem
We need to change 4 into a fraction with same denominator in order to perform subtraction
the denominator of 4 is 1 and 1 x 8 = 8, so we multiply numerator and denominator by 8

\frac{3}{4}x =  \frac{5}{8} -  \frac{4x8}{1x8}

\frac{3}{4} x =  \frac{5}{8} -  \frac{32}{8}

\frac{3}{4}x = - \frac{27}{8}
And now we divide either sides by \frac{3}{4} to find the value of x
(Dividing by a fraction also means multiplying by its reciprocal)

\frac{3}{4}x ÷ \frac{3}{4} = - \frac{27}{8} ÷ \frac{3}{4}

x = -\frac{9}{2}

A parachutist's speed during a free fall reaches 207 kilometers per hour. What is this speed in meters per second? At this speed
Mamont248 [21]
<span>The speed is 57.5 m/s and the parachutist will fall 1150 m in 20 seconds.

Explanation<span>:
We start out with the ratio 207 km/1 hr.

We know that 1 km = 1000 m; this means 207 km = 207*1000 = 207000 m. This gives us 207000 m/1 hr.

We know that 1 hr = 60 minutes, so we have 207000 m/60 min.

We also know that 1 min = 60 seconds, so 60 min = 60*60 = 3600 sec; this gives us 207000 m/3600 sec.

Dividing this, we get 57.5 m/s.

In 20 seconds, the parachutist will fall 57.5(20) = 1150 m.</span></span>
