<span>Siempre he encontrado que la metáfora de la cultura de Clifford Geertz es la más útil: estamos suspendidos en redes de importancia de las que nosotros mismos somos los tejedores. Lo que las cosas significan para nosotros nos apoya. Nos permite ver y entender el mundo. Es la forma en que damos sentido a lo que Joan Didion llamó "la fantasmagoría cambiante que es nuestra experiencia". (La metáfora de Didion para la cultura es: "Nos decimos historias para vivir"). Lo que las cosas significan para nosotros también nos constriñe. Solo podemos ver lo que sabemos buscar.
