After Marthin Luther expressed his criticism to the Roman Catholic Church on many points the Protestantism started as a “new church” without the problems and the corruption that the Catholic Church had and it was more focused on the learning of the Bible and the word of God.
Because of that, the Catholic Church had the Council of Trent, it was between 1545-1563 and had two objectives:
The first objective was the more important one, address all that was questioned by the Protestants, respond to the criticism and try to stop the growth of Protestantism.
The second objective was to reform church offices and require bishops and pastors to live in their parishes.
