Answer:

No, does not form a proportion

Step-by-step explanation:

Consider the provided information.

The length of boat was 6 ft long and 2 1/2 ft wide.

Note: 2 1/2 = 2.5

The dimensions were too small so boat maker wants to add 2 ft to both the length and width but also wants to keep the canoe the same shape.

To be the same shape the ratio should form a proportion if you add 2 ft to both the length and width.

Add 2 in length and width.

New length 6+2= 8

New width 2.5 + 2 = 4.5

Now compare the ratio as shown:

\frac{6}{2.5}=\frac{8}{4.5}\\\\ 2.4=1.778

Which is not true

Hence, it will not work because it does not form a proportion.

The ratio of length to width would change slightly, before adding on to the dimensions, the ratio is 6 : 2.5    with the added dimensions, the ratio would change to 8 : 4.5    with simple math you can see that 2.5 is less then half of 6 while 4.5 is more then half of 8

A line goes through the point (-8,9), and has a slope of 3/4
olya-2409 [2.1K]

Answer:

y=\dfrac{3}{4}x+15

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that,

A line goes through the point (-8,9), and has a slope of 3/4.

We need to express in the form of Ax+B for this line.

We have, m = 3/4

So,

y=\dfrac{3}{4}x+B

Put y = 9 and x = -8 in the above equation.

9=\dfrac{3}{4}(-8)+B\\\\9=-6+B\\\\9+6=B\\\\B=15

So,

y=\dfrac{3}{4}x+15

It is the required equation of the line.

x2 + 8x + 6 (x2 + 8x + ) + 6 Erin was completing the square of the quadratic function in order to find the extreme value. What i
kolezko [41]

Answer:

C.

Step-by-step explanation:

The next step is to add (1/2 * 8)^2 = 4^2 = 16 to the 8x and subtract 16 from the + 6:

- to give (x^2 + 8x + 16) + 6 - 16 as the next step in the process.

The extreme minimum is  +6 - 16 = -10.
