The Declaration of Sentiments outlined the rights that American women should be entitled to as citizens. The author of this Declaration was Elizabeth Cady Stanton. Elizabeth Cady Stanton was an American suffragist, social activist, abolitionist, and leading figure of the early women's rights movement. Her Declaration of Sentiments, presented at the Seneca Falls Convention held in 1848 in Seneca Falls, New York, is often credited with initiating the first organized women's rights and women's suffrage movements in the United States. Stanton was president of the National American Woman Suffrage Association from 1890 until 1892. The Declaration of Sentiments is inherently biased since it was signed almost exclusively by women who were reaching for their rights. This, however, is completely understandable because they were a minority group.

         On December 7th, 1941, Pearl Harbor was attacked by Japanese forces. The next day, Franklin D. Roosevelt addressed the United States Congress with his memorable “a date which will live in infamy” speech. This speech had one purpose: To rally the American people to support the war effort. The purpose in Roosevelt’s “Pearl Harbor Address to the Nation” was to educate the nation on what had happened and to justify his reasons for declaring war upon the Japanese Empire. Each word in this memorable speech tugged on the emotions of the American people. The Pearl Harbor Speech was written by Franklin Delano Roosevelt and presented in 1941. Roosevelt was obviously trying to rally people up against Japan for bombing Pearl Harbor.
