Exploration of Africa brought fundamental and far-reaching consequences.

Some of them are:

- Improved geographical knowledge, which in turned improved communication and navigation;

- conquest and colonization by European powers, an event that brought both negative and "positive" consequences;

- the negative impact could be the subjugation of local peoples, slavery, racism, and destruction of local cultures and kingdoms;

- a very negative inheritance is the drawing of unnatural borders that often separated the same tribes or ethnic groups for the sake of colonial interests. It is the cause of many present conflicts in Africa;

- emigration and settlement of white, European settlers;

- if we can speak about "positive" outcomes, we can quote the introduction of modern economic methods and infrastructure, the insertion of those local economies into the global economy;

- another major impact is the spread of Christianity in Africa by missionaries.
