Environmental impacts of increased protein consumption

Explanation:

Protein is a major macronutrient that helps in body building and present more in animal sources. Hence increase in population raises the demand for more protein based foods. So, there is a huge increase in animal farming.

Animal farming directly impacts the environment as it is one of the major causes of global warming and environmental pollution.

Grazing is a common feeding method for farming animals and this reduces the greenery of vast lands which can store more carbon. Thereby these animals affect the carbon footprint.

Next, farm animals release a lot of methane in their waste products. Methane is one of the major greenhouse gases and increases global warming.

Moreover, animal waste effluents pollute the surrounding natural land and water sources with contaminants including harmful pathogens.

Based on the graph above, how well will the enzyme perform as a catalyst when placed in a pH 7 solution, such as water?
mrs_skeptik [129]
The correct answer is "<span>It will perform less than optimally unless the pH was increased."

This is because the curve on the graph shows pH versus reaction rate. If we follow the x-axis (the bottom one) to a pH of 7, it is at an extremely low reaction rate compared to other points of the graph. If we continue along, we see that the reaction rate increases as the pH increases. Therefore, the enzyme will perform less than optimally unless the pH is increased.

Hope this helps, and hope I'm the brainiest! :)</span>

In an experiment involving an enzyme, the pH is raised from 2 to 11. What will be the MOST LIKELY effect of this on the reaction
AnnZ [28]
<span>The pH of the solution affects the ionization of the R group of the amino acids in the enzyme. Changing the ionization affects the bonding of the protein. resulting in the affecting of the shape.  Therefore, the substrate binding to the site will lessen causing a reduce enzyme activity. But this depends on the type of enzyme and its optimum pH level.</span>
