William Bradford and his fellow separatists moved from England to Holland to escape persecution by King James I of England. He later ( 1620 ) emigrated to the Plymouth Colony. He was a part of the "Mayflower Compact", first document of governance of that Colony, He was many times Governor of the Colony.
