Use your journal to sketch out a story that you could set in the Klondike Gold Rush. Describe a possible main character, a theme

that you want to explore, and three events that you could include to show that theme. Spend about five to ten minutes writing up your plan. You may choose to write your plan in paragraph form, or use a graphic organizer. 50 Points PLZ HELP

Answer:

Hey! I'll try to help you as much as I possibly can.

A possible Main Character: (please Please PLEASE keep in mind that this is fiction)

Katherine: A Young girl of 16 trying to find her father who rushed off to the Klondlike Goldrush. Her father has not been writing anymore letters. or answering them for that matter. So Katherine thinks it's up to her to bring her father home.

Theme: Family, Friendship, Love, and Perseverance.

Event for Family: Obviously, this event will include her father. You could have someone offer Katherine a lot of money in exchange for her father (people did that back in the day, which is pretty sad) But Katherine says "No." and that shows that family is important.

Event for Perseverance: You could have Katherine go through many different trials and bumps along the way to finding  her father. She could almost drown, get killed by a bear, and have trouble hiking up a mountain.

Event for Love: Many great stories have romance in them. Try giving Katherine a smart, handsome young man named Peter. Who helps her find her father and (perhaps) gets married to her in the end.

Event for friendship: Have Katherine make many friends along the way. It doesn't matter who they are, but make sure to let her expierience friendship.

Identify which is a simile, metaphor, hyperbole, alliteration or personification.
rodikova [14]

Answer: a: simile     b: alliteration    c: simile    d: personification    e: hyperbole   f: simile      g: simile      h: simile     i: alliteration  j: metaphor

Explanation: Similes are comparing unlike things with like or as. This means that a, c, g and h are similes. However on d it also uses the word as but it's personification. That's because personification is giving nonliving things human like characteristics. A chair cannot wait, but a human can therefore it's personification. Alliteration is the repetiotion of the beginning sound on a set of words. So because most of the words in b and i start with the same sound, it's alliteration. E is a hyperbole because a hyperbole is an exaggeration. The speaker of the statement doesn't actually have a million things to do, they're exaggerating which makes it a hyperbole. Lastly j is a metaphor because it compares 2 unlike things without using like or as, instead using was. Hope this helps :)

How does Abigail Williams in the Crucible influence the other girls?
vodka [1.7K]
Abigail's parents were killed. She receives no affection from Parris other than material needs. She finally does find affection from John Proctor. When she and the other girls conspire to make up the story about witchcraft, she and the girls are trying to stay out of trouble, but this could also be another of Abigail's attempts to get attention (good or bad) and/or affection from someone. Keep in mind that she lives in a Puritan village, a very religious place where affection is strictly regulated and passion is reserved for devotion to God. Consequently, she seeks affection in any way she can.

That being said, she can not be totally excused from the hysteria she helped create. The question is how does she exert power over the other girls. One answer is that because she feels so alone, she will do whatever it takes to get attention. The girls fall victim to Abby's determination and find it difficult to disagree with her because she seems so confident.
