Once Germany invaded Czechoslovakia and then signed the German-Soviet Non Aggression Pact. At this point (end 1939) Hitler has proof of the might of his Military and now only had to worry about France and Britain to the West. The pact effectively took the Soviet Union off the board and Hitler didn’t have to worry about the East and being attacked from two directions.
