Ricky tried to dye his hair black but left the dye on too long; clumps of his hair fell out completely, leaving weird bald patch
ololo11 [35]
The correct answer is social ostracism.
Ricky was ostracized from the society, which means that he was basically rejected by the people around him based on something he did or the way he looked. In his case, everyone exiled him from the 'school society' because of his weird bald patches on the scalp, but once they were gone, he was readmitted into the society.

Which best describes a major difference between latent functions and manifest functions? Apex
blondinia [14]

Answer:

A. Latent functions are unintended, while manifest functions are  intended.

Explanation:

-Latent functions are unconscious behaviors that tend to resulted in a certain situation in the long run.

Example:

When parents beat up their kid everytime the kid did something that they don't like, the kid will most likely grow up to be someone that will beat up others in similar situations.

This effect tend to be unintended by the parents who aren't aware of the effect of their actions.

- manifest functions is consciously enforced to create a certain behavior.

Example:

When the parents give some sort of reward every time the kid get good grades. This tend to make the kid become more likely to put an effort in studying.

When that happen, the parents get exactly what they expect. Because of this, we can say that the result is intended.

zepelin [54]
People went on pilgrimages ( and still do) because they believe they can achieve special benefits which they cannot achieve otherwise, such as forgiveness for all sins (some pilgrimages promise this specifically) or special blessings, such as health improvement.
