Ok, so if a^m=a^n where a=a, then assume that m=n
so

9^{3x-7}=9^{5-x}, 9=9, so 3x-7=5-x

3x-7=5-x
add x to both sides
4x-7=5
add 7 to both sides
4x=12
divide both sides by 4
x=3

We can take the 9's out and get
3x-7=5-x
4x=12
x=3

FinnZ [79.3K]

To divide a whole number by a decimal, write out the division problem with both numbers represented as decimals with the same number of places to the right of the decimal point. For example, you would write 3.0 with one decimal place divided by 1.2.

Was that the right answer your looking for? If so I'm glad to help.

Paul has 2/3 as many postcards as Shawn. The number of postcards Shawn has is 3/5 of the number of postcards Tim has. If the thr
Otrada [13]

Tim has 84 more postcards than Paul.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

Total number of postcards = 280

Let,

Tim's share of postcards = x

Shawn's share of postcards = \frac{3}{5}\ of\ Tim's\ share = \frac{3}{5}x

Paul's share of postcards = \frac{2}{3}\ of\ Shawn's=\frac{2}{3}(\frac{3}{5}x)=\frac{2}{5}x

According to given statement;

x+\frac{3}{5}x+\frac{2}{5}x=280

Taking LCM

\frac{5x+3x+2x}{5}=280\\\\\frac{10x}{5}=280\\\\2x=280

Dividing both sides by 2

\frac{2x}{2}=\frac{280}{2}\\x=140

Paul's share = \frac{2}{5}x=\frac{2}{5}(28)=56

Difference = Tim's share - Paul's share

Difference = 140 - 56 = 84 cards

Tim has 84 more postcards than Paul.

The parallelogram shown below has an area of 54 units^2 squared. Find the missing height. h = units.
rewona [7]

Answer:

See Explanation

Step-by-step explanation:

This question requires an attachment.

However, if you follow my explanation, you'll arrive at your answer

The area of a parallelogram is:

Area (A)= Base (b) * Height (h)

A = b * h

To solve for Height, we simply make h the subject of formula

h = \frac{A}{b}

In this question, we have that A = 54

Now, let's assume base (b) = 6.

This implies that

h = \frac{54}{6}

h = 9

Or;

Assume that b = 3

h = \frac{54}{3}

h = 18

<em>So, whatever the base of the parallelogram is;</em>

<em>You can easily solve for the height using the above steps</em>
