Explanation:

General Lee fought for the Confederates, was a supporter of slavery, and although he had made several strategies for winning the confederation during the war of secession, he wrote a letter to his son where he reveals that he does not believe that the secession is the form to solve all the problems of the southern states. In the letter, Lee also reveals that he is afraid and asks God to free them from two evils: anarchy and the war of secession.
