In this story Kate’s mom was very sick for a long time, she was in the hospital for quite a while. On Katie’s tenth birthday she goes to see her mom at the hospital. Katie had a big party with all the nurses and doctors. Kate received a box from her mother and she was too upset that all she got was a box to realize that her mom was using up her last heartbeats.
