What does this excerpt reveal about Nick? He is not particularly impressed by material wealth and fashionable appearances. He pl
kotykmax [81]

Answer:

He is wealthy enough to live in West Egg but not wealthy enough to rent a very nice place.

Explanation:

F. Scott Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby," tells the story of Jay Gatsby and his unfulfilled dreams of trying to win back his former love which is the main and only purpose of his life. The story also deals with the theme of an American dream, the various obstacles that one encounters in life, and the evident social status that one maintains or tries to maintain to be "agreeable" for others.

In the given excerpt from the text, Nick, our narrator, describes his home. He agrees that his house at West Egg <em>"is an eyesore but it was a small eyesore"</em>. This seems to suggest that it was an eyesore for those living in East Egg but not that much as compared to the other houses in West Egg. This shows that <u>he is wealthy enough to live in a much better house than the others but at the same time, not wealthy enough to be able to reside in the "upper-class" East Egg side. </u>

Which of these inferences is best supported by the stanza below (lines 1-14)?
kirza4 [7]

Answer:

I do not see any answer choices, so I hope this helps.

Explanation:

This poem is about a crisis of faith.  Science is taking over and therefore, it seems to be replacing "faith".  The belief in the world of faith and religion is slipping away and it is going out like the tide does in the ocean/sea.  I read up on this some more and found it interesting that Matthew Arnold literally was able to stand and look at the straits of Dover on the English Channel.

Cool beans.
