Your body cells use the oxygen you breathe to get energy from the food you eat. This process is called cellular respiration. During cellular respiration the cell uses oxygen to break down sugar. Breaking down sugar produces the energy your body needs.

Familial hypercholesterolemia, an autosomal dominant disease, is five times more frequent in the afrikaner population of south a
IgorLugansk [536]

This represents the example of founder effect.

The founder effect is a term in genetics that describes the loss of genetic variation as a result of new population formation by a very small number of individuals from a larger population. Small group of migrants (the afrikaner population of south Africa) that is not genetically representative of the larger population (Europe population) forms a new population with lower genetic variation.

How are limestone and shells connected to the carbon cycle plz answer and fast
noname [10]
Limestone contains calcium carbonate which comes from animals that have shells, it already has carbon. Other sources are ocean animals which create shells that combine both carbon and calcium. Their dead bodies also release carbon to the ocean. Limestone is also known as a sedimentary rock that has carbon. Outside the ocean, limestone emits the carbon and becomes part of the carbon cycle. In addition to this, limestones are widely used by people becomes a part of the carbon cycle. Its component is present on asphalt, animal feed.

You conduct a mark-recapture survey of eastern fence lizards (Sceloporus undulates) in a 2-hectare plot in eastern Arizona. You
Ksenya-84 [330]

Answer:

Option C

Explanation:

Given -

Total number of initially marked lizards (M) = 250

Total number of recaptured lizards (C) = 75

Total number of recaptured marked lizards (R) = 24

As we know that -

\frac{M}{N} = \frac{R}{C}

We have to find "N" . "N" is the total population size of lizards in a 2-hectare plot in eastern Arizona.

Thus, on rearranging the above equation, we get -

N = \frac{M * C}{R}

Substituting the given values in above equation, we get -

N = \frac{250 * 75}{24} \\N = 781.25\\N = 781.3

Hence, option C is correct

The mitochondrion, like the nucleus, has two or more membrane layers. How is the innermost of these layers different from that o
tensa zangetsu [6.8K]

Answer:

The double membrane of the mitochondria is highly folded,and therefore wider when unfolded than that of the nucleus.This is an adaptive feature  to increase the surface area for reactions (electrochemical  gradient) by accommodating protons pumped into it by the proton motive force(PMF)  from the matrix to set up the electrochemical gradients needed to generate the energy needed by ATPase synthase enzymes for ATPs synthesis.

Required number of protons needed to be accommodated by the double membrane to generate enough energy for ATPase synthesis,therefore larger surface area is needed.
