Hence, right amount of calcium and phosphorus is needed for bone strength, cell membrane structure, and energy production. Soft drinks and beverages interfere with calcium absorption from the gut. Moreover, cola beverages contain high amount of phosphoric acid which is an essential bone mineral but also interferes with calcium absorption in bones. Hence, high phosphorus content can also decrease calcium absorption. Therefore, beverage intake has a negative impact on normal calcium and phosphorus levels in the body.
