The formula to find slope with 2 coordinates is \frac{ y_{2}- y_{1}  }{ x_{2}- x_{1} }.

Now plug in the variables.

\frac{-4-9}{u-6} = \frac{13}{9}

-4-9=-13
u-6=-9

We must solve for u by adding 6 on both sides of the equation, giving us -3. So, u is -3.

Remember when we do slope, if both the numerator and denominator are negative numbers, it is the same as if they were positive. That is why the both equations resulted into negative number instead of positive numbers.

In an election of 2 candidates, Freda received 60% of the votes and Sonja the rest. If Freda won by 28 votes, how many people vo
klemol [59]

Answer:

Total number of people who voted in the elections =  140.

Step-by-step explanation:

Votes received by Freda = 60%

So, the votes received by Sonja = (100 - 60)% = 40%

So  difference between the votes of Sonja and Freda = 60% - 40% = 20%

Also  Freda won by 28 votes, so difference between their votes = 28 votes

Let the total number of people voted = K

Now, according to the question

20 % of K = 28

\frac{20}{100}  \times K = 28\\

⇒ K = 2800/20 = 140

So, the total number of people who voted in the elections are 140.

Find the coordinates of point) along the directed segment AB that partitions it so that the ratio of AP to PB is 1:2. NO LINKS O
aleksandr82 [10.1K]

Answer: (1, 3)

Step-by-step explanation:

There are two ways to solve this problem, 1 without the pythagorean theorem, and 1 with it.  For the sake of simplicity, I will solve it without the pythagorean theorem.

As is visually evident from the graph, the line segment spans 6 units horizontally, and 3 units vertically.  Because the ratio between AP and PB is 1:2, simply divide both the domain and range by 3, to get 2 horizontally, and 1 vertically.

Then, simply go to point A and respectively add and subtract the horizontal and vertical values to get point A(-1, 4) --> P(1,3)

Hope it helps, and let me know if you want me to solve it an alternate way or go more in depth as to the way it is know.

Molly read 50 out of the 200 pages in her fiction book. Joel is also reading a fiction book, but his book has 280 pages in total
katrin [286]

Answer:

x = 70

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

Molly: 50 out of 200

Joel: x out of 280

Required

Find x

Start by representing the giving parameters as ration

Molly= 50 : 200

Joel = x : 280

From the question, the ratios are equivalent. So,

50 : 200 = x : 280

Convert to fractions

\frac{50}{200} = \frac{x}{280}

Solve for x

x = \frac{50}{200} * 280

x = \frac{1}{4} * 280

x = \frac{280}{4}

x = 70
