The answer is simile. A simile is a metaphor that compares two things directly. The general rule for identifying a simile is: does the comparison use the word "like" or "as"? If so, it is likely a simile.

How does William Blake depict the trees in his interpretation of the forest of suicides in the inferno?
Archy [21]

The trees in the forest are encased with souls who committed suicide as their punishment.  They are like the living-dead as the harpies feast on the branches of the trees.  This is their punishment for taking their lives to express their frustrations.

I have heard of velibs. They are the cheapest ride in Paris. I do know a similar concept in my country. What I learned is that these rides are very important for travel and transportation. They are also very important for cargo. Yep that's my country, they use this concept as cargo.

Read the introduction and first paragraph to the essay about seat belt use. (1) Currently, different states have different laws
Musya8 [376]

Sentence 6:  Some people believe that the government does not have the right to force people to be safe, and that these laws are unfair.

The counterargument in an essay is the argument that a person would make against the essay's overall claim. In this essay, the author is arguing for consistent seat belt laws across all states for both drivers and passengers. The author wants the government to get involved because seat belts save lives. The counterargument contradicts the author in that it argues that the government should not be the one deciding whether or not a person should be wearing a seat belt. Laws for seat belts are unfair as they infringe upon a person's rights.
