EXPLANATION

The man vs self refers to the situation when a character has a conflict with themselves. They are battling with themselves to do a certain thing. The man vs self-conflict is usually used as the main storyline of a story. It is usually the main conflict that the leading character should face. The man vs self can also be the secondary conflict because of this added pressure, drama, and tension to the actual conflict that is happening.

The man vs self is actually explaining that each person is complex and different from one another. Each person has their own uniqueness in how they think, how they feel, how they solve a problem, and how they react to things. The growth of a character is a progress that is enjoyable to watch and follow. The man vs self creates intriguing uncertainty to the story.

The man vs self will build anticipation within the audience. They will have to guess and see what the main character is eventually going to do. The main character may be successful in overcoming his own flaws and be a hero, but can also be failed and become destructive. The man vs self-conflict does not always apply to the main character, but on the other characters as well. The antagonist of a story can also experience man vs self-conflict.
