The Aztec people were a pre-Columbian Mesoamerican civilization, which developed mainly between the fourteenth and sixteenth centuries, in the territory corresponding to present-day Mexico. The Aztecs were a hierarchical society that developed advanced techniques of architecture, agriculture and handicrafts. However, in spite of developing tissues, the most prestigious Aztec crafts were objects of gold, silver and articles of painting. Thus, these people were not known as Texica.
