What did they call the red Sea back then
Shalnov [3]

The first people known to explore the Red Sea were the Ancient Egyptians, who explored the area c. 2500 BC while looking for commercial routes southward. So how did the Red Sea get its name? Theories abound, but no one knows for sure.

It could be from the red-hued "sea sawdust," a type of bacteria that grows near the water's surface. Some historians believe the Red Sea is named for the Himyarites, a group who once lived along it's shores.  Others believe that the "red" in Red Sea is actually a designator of the Sea's location relative to the ancient Mediterranean world - to the South. In ancient languages, the colors black, red, green, and white referred to North, South, East, and West, respectively.

Alexis de Tocqueville, a French political thinker and historian best known for his Democracy in America

Explanation:

He says that the tension between freedom and equality is that there is a passion for equality, which makes every man's desire to be powerful and honored. However, there is a depraved taste for equality, which makes the weak want to lower the powerful to make everyone weak. Liberty is the important key aspect of everyone's desires, and they make efforts to obtain liberty, but if they don't obtain liberty than they would rather have everyone with the same equality. He highlights the fact law of humanity takes the key role in America.

The Anglo-Americans are the first people to emphasize sovereignty of the people, which means that the people are given the utmost power and liberties in the country. The people and the common good come first before anything else.

Did slaves change Jamestown if so how
bagirrra123 [75]

In August 1619 more people arrived on the Dutch Man-of-War ship at Jamestown colony. This is the earliest record of Black people in colonial America. These colonists were freemen and indentured servants. At this time the slave trade between Africa and the English colonies had not yet been established.

Records from 1623 and 1624 listed the African inhabitants of the colony as servants, not slaves. In the case of William Tucker, the first Black person born in the colonies, freedom was his bright right. He was son of "Antony and Isabell", a married couple from Angola who worked as indentured servants for Captain William Tucker whom he was named after. Yet, court records show that at least one African had been declared a slave by 1640; John Punch. He was an indentured servant who ran away along with two White indentured servants and he was sentenced by the governing council to lifelong servitude. This action is what officially marked the institution of slavery in Jamestown and the future United States.
