Martina combined different amounts of water, vinegar, and rubbing alcohol to make 38 milliliters (ml) of a solution for a scienc

e experiment. The amount of water was x ml. The amount of vinegar was 8 ml less than that of water, and the amount of rubbing alcohol was half the amount of vinegar. This is represented in the equation below.
x + (x – 8) + 1/2 (x – 8) = 38
What was the difference in the amounts of water and rubbing alcohol Martina combined?

X + x - 8 + x/2 - 4 = 38
2x + x/2 = 38 + 8 + 4
5x/2 = 50
5x = 100
x = 20

that the amoint of water : 20
amount of rubbing alcohol: (1/2)(20-8) = (1/2)(12) = 6
difference : 20-6 = 14

hope this help

Answer: The difference in the amounts of water and rubbing alcohol Martina combined= 14 ml

Step-by-step explanation:

Given: Martina combined different amounts of water, vinegar, and rubbing alcohol to make 38 milliliters (ml) of a solution for a science experiment.

The amount of water was x ml.

The amount of vinegar was 8 ml less than that of water (x-8), and the amount of rubbing alcohol was half the amount of vinegar \frac{1}{2}(x-8) .

This is represented in the equation :-

x+(x-8)+\frac{1}{2}(x-8)=38\\\Rightarrow\ 2x+2(x-8)+(x-8)=2\times38\\\Rightsrrow2x+2x-16+x-8=76\\\Rightarrow5x-24=76\\\Rightarrow\ 5x=76+24\\\Rightarrow5x=100\\\Rightarrow\ x=20

The amount of water x =20 ml

The amount of rubbing alcohol= \frac{1}{2}(20-8)=\frac{12}{2}=6\ ml

The difference in the amounts of water and rubbing alcohol Martina combined= 20-6 = 14 ml

Jake thinks that a rhombus is not always a parallelogram.Is jake correct?
OverLord2011 [107]

Answer:

No, a rhombus is a quadrilateral, with four equal-length sides and opposite sides parallel to each other. All rhombuses are parallelograms, but not all parallelograms are rhombuses. The opposite interior angles of rhombuses are always congruent. A parallelogram is just a four sided closed shape where opposite sides are parallel.

I hope this helps!
