I can see the fur on my cat and I can physically touch it and feel the softness of it. The carpet on my floor has rough texture. It happens in most science experiments, for example, when a new species of fish, or an animal or bird is discovered, we first define it by looking at all its traits, its similarities with existing species, and then go from there. We as humans also do it in our lives, we define someone to fit them into a box, whether religiously, ethnically, or socially. It's a natural human trait, we just have to learn to keep it in line.
