The geologist can use the following items in the kit to determine the characteristics of the mineral.

1) Penny - used to compare the hardness of the mineral. Approximate hardness of a copper penny is 3.

2) hand lens - can also be used to compare the hardness of the mineral. Its glass can be used as a scratch plate. It can also be used to check for the luster of the mineral.

3) tile - rubbing the mineral on the unglazed part of the tile will provide a powdered streak of the mineral which is used to identify the mineral and its color.

4) geological hammer - used to break the mineral to check whether it has cleavage or not and to identify its fractures.

5) jackknife - used to identify the tenacity of the mineral. The minerals' tenacity can be brittle, malleable, sectile, flexible, or elastic.

How does a globe and a flashlight can be used to show why the sun appears to move through the sky.
algol [13]

Answer:

In fact, you may point your flashlight (or laser pointer, if you prefer) at the Andromeda galaxy. There is a non-zero probability that one or more of the photons will be seen by some alien in that galaxy when they happen to glance into the sky at the Milky Way. However, you must take care to aim your flashlight not where Andromeda appears now, but where it will be in 3 million years. Good luck!

3) When the temperature of a blackbody increases from 900 K to 2300 K, by what factor does the total power of the electromagneti
LekaFEV [45]

Answer:

The electromagnetic radiation per-unit- area increase by 42.65 times.

Explanation:

The radiation per-unit- area (P) is directly proportional to the fourth power of the temperature. Thus,

P ∝ T⁴

For, when the temperature is raised from T₀ to T₁ , the radiation per-unit- area is related to as:

\frac {P_1}{P_0}=\frac {T_1^4}{T_0^4}

T₀ =  900 K

T₁ = 2300 K

\frac {P_1}{P_0}=\frac {2300^4}{900^4}

So,

<u>P₁ = 42.65 P₀</u>

<u>The electromagnetic radiation per-unit- area increase by 42.65 times.</u>
