I would start by distributing the (-1) through the (5-3x)

2x-5+3x=4x+2
(combine like terms)
5x-5=4x+2
(move the x to the left side of the equation by subtraction)
x-5=2
(then of course we isolate the x by adding the 5 to the right side)
x=7

then you can check your work by replacing all of the x's with 7
2(7)-1(5-3(7))=4(7)+2
14-1(-16)=28+2
14+16=30
30=30

hope this helps!

Brian Was thinking of a number. Brian adds 8 to it, then doubles it and gets an answer of 16.4. What was the original number?
viva [34]

Answer:

The number is 0.2

Step-by-step explanation:

Write an equation for it:

Say that the number was called x

2(x +8) =16.4

Brain added 8 to the number (x) and then doubled it which is the 2

Times out the brackets 2x + 16 = 16.4

Take away 16 from both sides

2x = 0.4

0.4 / 2 = 0.2

Evaluate C(9, 3). a)504 b)84 c)60480 d)5040
melomori [17]

Answer:

b

Step-by-step explanation:

Evaluate using the definition

nC_{r} = \frac{n!}{r!(n-r)!}

where n ! = n(n - 1)(n - 2)(n - 3)..... × 3 × 2 × 1

Given

9C_{3}

= \frac{9!}{3!(9-3)!}

= \frac{9.8.7.6.5.4.3.2.2.1}{3!.6!}

= \frac{9.8.7.6.5.4.3.2.1}{3.2.1(6.5.4.3.2.1)}

Cancel 6.5.4.3.2.1 on numerator and denominator, leaving

= \frac{9.8.7}{3.2.1}

= \frac{504}{6}

= 84 → b
