Nick Bottom is a central figure in the play <em>A Midsummer Night's Dream</em>. Nick Bottom believes himself to be a talented actor, even though he is in fact mediocre. However, he is unaware of his incompetence, which provides comic relief. He thinks everyone thinks highly of him, and his self-importance is mocked when his head is turned into that of a donkey by Puck.
