The answer is y^{0} or 1

The first thing we need to look at is the fact that we are dividing and multiplying powers. When dividing and multiplying powers, you subtract the exponents if the variables are being divided, and you add the exponents if the variables are being multiplied. <u>This rule only applies if the variables are the same.</u><u><em></em></u> Since we are using the same variable, y, let's apply this rule:

y^{5} / (y^{3} * y^{2})

Let's just look at just the expontnets the exponents with the rule applied:

5 - (3 + 2) = 0

Now, place that exponent with our original variable and we have our answer:

y^{0} or 1 since and number when given and exponent of 0 = 1

I hope this helped!! Have an amazing day :))

Y^5/(y^3*y^2)

use exponent rule for multiplying exponents and add exponents together
y^3*y^2 = y^5

y^5/y^5= 1
