<u>Explanation:</u>

  • The term eclipse refers to the casting of a huge shadow of one celestial object over the other.
  • This phenomenon usually occurs when a celestial object blocks the passage of light falling on a celestial body and casts a shadow instead. Same happens with the eclipsing binary stars.
  • The binary stars that share a single orbit cast shadows on each other and appear like eclipsing binary stars.
