What is the central theme and the authors purpose in his text ? How dose the author develop and communicate this theme and purpo

se ? Give specific evidence from the text to support your answer .
There's a condition in combat that occurs when a soldier is completely stressed out and is " on the verge of a nervous collapse " . in world war 1 it was called " shell shock " simple, honest, direct language . Two syllables . shell shock . it almost sounds like guns themselves.....
.. [I]n World war 2 the same combat condition was called "battle fatigue" for syllables now ; takes a little longer to say . Dosent seem to hurt as much By the....Korean War.... the very same condition was being called "operation exhaustion." . the phrase was up eight syllables now , and any last traces of humanity has been completely squeezed out of it ......
Then ... we got into Vietnam , and , thanks to the deceptions surrounding that war , it's no surprise that the very same condition was referred to as " post-traumatic stress disorder. " still eight syllables, but we've added a hyphen, and the pain is completely buried under jargon .... I'll bet if they had still been calling it "shell shock " some of those Vietnam veterans might have received the attention they needed .

Do you agree with lundstrom that it is inconsistent to deny privilege like voting and drinking to teenagers but then to sentence
Vika [28.1K]

Answer:

I don’t agree with Lundstrom that it is inconsistent to deny privileges like voting and drinking to teenagers but then to sentence them as adults, setting the early age standards to allow teenagers to vote and drink is to connive them. People would never know what could a teenager do, their behaviors are erratic. But that doesn’t mean they would be free from trails, the title of “juveniles” does not indicate that they are

innocent in every situations, in certain circumstances, they should be tried as adults

Douglas’ mother writes to the YMCA authorities holding them accountable for the mishap as well as demanding that the authorities
sladkih [1.3K]

Hi. This question requires you to use your creativity and drafting skills and for that reason, I can't write the letter for you, but I can show you how to write it and that's what I'm going below.

To begin writing the letter, you must imagine yourself as Douglas' mother and think about how upset you were about your son's accident in the YMCA pool, which was left completely under supervision. After imagining the situation you can write the letter as follows:

  1. Start by making a statement to the person you are writing the letter to. You can start with "Dear Mr/Mrs...."
  2. Begin a second paragraph by introducing yourself, and showing why this letter is being written. Then comment on the accident and give reasons why you believe the YMCA authorities are responsible for this accident.
  3. Start the third paragraph giving suggestions on how this problem can be resolved and claiming something that should be done to prevent new accidents from happening.
  4. End the letter by stating that you hope these issues will be resolved quickly and that you hope all families can have good experiences with the YMCA in the future. Remember to be polite throughout the letter.
