At a fundraiser breakfast, the bill for three glasses of orange juice and five pancake specials is $7.60, whereas the bill for o

ne glass of orange juice and two pancake specials is $2.90.
Write a system of two equations to model this problem. Let j stand for the price of a glass of juice and let p stand for the price of a pancake special.

Use the substitution method to solve the system of equations.

What would be the bill for one glass of orange juice and one pancake special?

And then Solve the system by the linear combination method Show all work and then Graph the system of linear inequalities. Then state two possible solutions to the system.

1) 3j + 5p = 7.60 and 1j + 2p = 2.90

2) Solving for j and p
j = 2.90 - 2p

3(2.90 - 2p) + 5p = 7.60
8.7 - 6p + 5p = 7.60
8.7 - p = 7.60
-p = -1.1
p = 1.1

1j + 2(1.1) = 2.9
j + 2.2 = 2.9
j = .7

3) The values of p and q:
p = $1.1 per pancake, j = .70 cents per glass

The value of the expression -2 xy for x = -4.7 and y = 0.2 is _____.
sergeinik [125]

The value of the expression -2xy for x = -4.7 and y = 0.2 is 1.88. Thus option number 3 is correct.

<u>Solution:</u>

We have been given an expression that is -2xy and have been asked to find its value for the given values of x and y

The given values of x and y are -4.7 and 0.2 respectively.

To find the value of the expression for the given values of x and y we substitute the values of x and y in the given expression and solve it as follows:

Given expression = -2xy

\begin{array}{l}{=-2(-4.7)(0.2)} \\\\ {=9.4 \times 0.2} \\\\ {=1.88}\end{array}

Hence the option number 3 is correct.

Suppose c is inversely proportional to the square of d. If c=6 when d=3⁢, find the constant of proportionality and write the for
NemiM [27]

Answer:

The constant of proportionality is 54.

k = 54

c as a function of d:

c(d) = \dfrac{54}{d^2}

c(7) = \dfrac{54}{49}

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given the following in the question:

c is inversely proportional to the square of d.

\Rightarrow c\propto \dfrac{1}{d^2}\\\\\Rightarrow c = \dfrac{k}{d^2}\\\\\text{where k is constant of proportionality}

When c = 6, d = 3.

Plugging the values, we get,

6 = \dfrac{k}{3^2}\\\\\Rightarrow k = 6\times 3^2 = 54

Thus, the constant of proportionality is 54.

c as a function of d can be written as:

c(d) = \dfrac{54}{d^2}

We have to find value of c when d = 7.

Putting values, we get,

c(7) = \dfrac{54}{(7)^2}=\dfrac{54}{49}

is the required value of c.

1/x - 1/(x+1) ≤ 0 Please help quickly
Ymorist [56]
\frac{1}{x}- \frac{1}{x+1}= \frac{(x+1)-x}{x(x+1)}= \frac{1}{x(x+1)} \leq 0

Therefore x(x+1)≤0, and if two numbers multiply to a negative number, one of them has to be negative and the other has to be positive. In this case, because x+1>x, x≤0, and x+1≥0

Therefore -1≤x≤0, and x can take up the value of any real number in the interval [-1,0]
