What is the definition of a noun?

English
1 answer:
leva [86]3 years ago
6 0

Answer:

The correct answer is D. a word that names a person, place, or thing.

Explanation:

Nouns are words that give us the names of people (John, Helen, Tom, etc.), places (courtyard, school, home, etc.), things (pencil, desk, computer, etc.). emotions (love, hate, happiness, etc.), and many other things. They usually act as subjects or objects within a sentence.

A is incorrect because that definition refers to pronoun, rather than noun. B is incorrect because nouns express so much more than just emotions. C is incorrect because that definition refers to verbs. Therefore, we are left with D.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay book:
sladkih [1.3K]

Answer: A) allusion

Explanation: It can't be foreshadowing as anyone who read the series already knew what kind of leader Coriolanus Snow was. It also can't be or B) because the definition of personification is the attribution of a human characteristics to something nonhuman. Now it could be C) but the author uses symbolism a lot in the Hunger Games series, for example the white roses and the Mockingjay as well as the Mockingjay pin, and comparing  the character Coriolanus Snow stemming from Shakespeare's play Coriolanus doesn't seem like how she writes symbolism but I could be wrong. The definition of allusion is an expression designed to call something to mind without mentioning it explicitly or an indirect or passing reference and that sounds like what the author is going for with having Coriolanus Snow based off of Shakespeare's play Coriolanus.

tamaranim1 [39]

Answer:

Aphrodite

Aphrodite was married to Hephaestus, but Aphrodite did not enter into this union of her own volition. She and Ares conceived Harmonia, who eventually married Herodotus.
