The constitution of the Itoqueites, like that of the USA, established a democratic system, where the people had the power to choose their leaders and representatives, just as they could ask for the impeachment processes. The two constitutions organized the government based on the theory of checks and balances and defined what public goods were.

On the other hand, there were some differences in these two constitutions, the most evident of which is that the Iroquois constitution allowed certain privileges to government leaders, while the American constitution did not.
