Autonomy vs Independence

Autonomy and Independence can be considered as synonymous on one level, although there is a difference between the two words on another level. The similarity between autonomy and independence comes with the idea of freedom. Both highlight the ability to make one’s decisions and choices. However, as mentioned above there is a difference as well. This difference between autonomy and independence can be understood as follows. Autonomy is the state of being self-governed. On the other hand, independence is the state of not being dependent on another. The concept of independence implies a rejection of rules and regulations but this is not the case in autonomy. This is the key difference between autonomy and independence.

How has Henry’s exposure to the tales of Homer and other Greek legends influenced his views of war?
ivanzaharov [21]

The correct answer is B; They have led Henry to develop highly romanticized ideas about battle and what fighting in a war will be like.

Explanation:

Henry is a character from the book, The Red Badge of Courage." In the book, it speaks about how Henry had dreamed of epic battles while at war. He beleives he is going off to war to be hero. His desires were comparative to Homeric" and even "Greeklike" at times.

As Henry starts on his journey, he meets returning veterans and hears the truth about how bad it is and how many are starving. At that point, he is still not sure if he should believe the men.

Read the stanza from "Invictus:"
Sindrei [870]
*You control your own destiny.*

Two lines of the poem directly support this claim. They are...

"I am the master of my fate:

I am the captain of my soul."

Meaning that the ultimate determining factor is you. Everyone is granted a choice, fate and destiny do not control you, because everyone has free-will.
