Tet offensive was the battle that showed that the war in Vietnam was not being won as easily as it was being portrayed. The offensive had a huge impact on the U.S government and shocked the US public. Soon, the American public support declined and the US started a series of negotiations to end war.

The south had a large amount of slaves that they could have in their workforce.
The North had way more rails and were able to transport supplies easier.
