1. Francisco Goya - B. Romanticism

- Goya is regarded as the most important Spanish artist of late 18th century. His work is largely a representative of Romanticism that shows intense emotion as the main source of visual experience, capitalizing on such emotions as apprehension, horror and terror, and awe experienced when placed in front of new aesthetic categories of the sublimity and beauty of nature.


2. Jacques-Louis David- A. Neoclassicism

- David is the main proponent of the Neoclassical style of painting. The movement seeks to return to the form of classical beauty and magnificence of the Ancient Greece and the Roman Empire.


3. Gustave Courbet - C. Realism

-Courbet was a french painter who is the proponent of Realism in the 19th century. His works embodies the essence of realism which is to depict the happenings of everyday rural living.


4. Paul Gauguin - E. Post Impressionism

- Gauguin was a post-impressionist artist that was unacclaimed until his death in 1903. His works were strongly influenced by the post- impressionist style of French Polynesia. It is with the use of strong bold colors and primitive themes that started this post modern style.


5. Claude Monet - D. Impressionism

- Monet's work is most memorable for his use of light atmosphere and observations of daily activities for a sequence of paintings. The philosophy of impressionism is to express one's perceptions of his immediate surroundings and nothing more. Just simple appreciation of moments.

<span>Overlapping is when one part of a shape or form is placed in front of another, Foreshortening is a technique that make a form appear to move back in space. In Mantegna’s piece, The Lamentation over the Dead Christ, he used overlapping to provide the depth to the room, and to show the image of Christ on top of the bed. By using foreshortening, the artist was able to make the body of Christ lay horizontal, and therefore receding into the background. This technique also allowed the other figures on the left to be positioned specifically by his waist, while his chest and head appear behind the figures. Mantegna created great depth using these techniques.</span>
