MRS. PETERS (looking upstairs). We mustn’t—take on. MRS. HALE. I might have known she needed help! I know how things can be—for
jonny [76]
The theme which is best reinforced by the given excerpt is that women generally felt detached from each other because of the societal roles thrust upon them. This can be seen especially from the sentence in the passage which states that, ' we live close together and we live far apart'. 'Live apart' in this sentence implies that there is no real close relationship among the women even though they are neighbors[ live together].

1. According to Lt. Watada, why should veterans always be the first ones to try to prevent war? 2. Lt. Watada’s radical idea; to
GenaCL600 [577]

You forgot to mention that this question is about the article "Soldiers can choose to stop fighting".

Answer and Explanation:

1. He believes that since veterans have already participated in a war, they know all the terror and suffering that the war causes and therefore should not want another war to happen, being the first to try to stop it.

2. He believes that they are actively participating in the war, they must stop fighting and refuse to start the fight again, only then an unjust and illegal war is stopped.

3. When choosing personal and moral responsibility rather than choosing what he is ordered to do, the soldier will provide the fulfillment of his duty to the people of his country by promoting security for the entire population, in addition, the soldier will gain the gratitude of the people, not with words, but with actions.

4. The author states that all soldiers and persons involved in any military action must have responsibility for the results of their actions and be able to discern through their reasoning when they are part of incorrect, illegal and immoral actions.

5. Serving the army is no excuse for disastrous actions. Every soldier is committed to promoting good and progress, not the other way around. Furthermore, every soldier is an adult and important being who must be able to reason for himself.

Which example from a visit of charity slows down the pacing of the story?
Deffense [45]
The example from ‘a visit of charity’ that slows down the pacing of the story is during the excerpt that reads or describes of how she wore a red coat with her yellow hair hanging down which are coming from her white cap, at the same time, all the little girls are wearing the same thing that year. It slows down the pacing of the story because it describes the appearance of the girl and how she is being differentiated or similar to the little girls.
