But it is still debatable whether Athens was the real democracy or not. The origin of democracy can go back to Athens in Ancient Greece. The idea of mass participation by people in choosing their leaders initiates from the political philosophers like Rousseau, Aristotle. Rousseau’s "Real Will" which consists of a total of all the real wills of people assures the purpose of democracy which means People's participation in the decision-making procedures of the government.
