In <em>The Odyssey</em>, Polyphemus is a giant, who happens to catch Odysseus's men in his cave in the land of Cyclops. He proceeds to eat them, two each day. In order to escape, Odysseus blind him, but tells him his name is "nobody," so that the giant cannot tell anyone who the perpetrator was. Eventually, as the giant moves the large stone that covers the exit of the cave, Odysseus and his men escape tied to the bellies of sheep.
